I started collecting salsa music as soon as I started learning salsa, back in late 2000.
I now have almost three thousand salsa albums in my collection.
The initial purpose of the collection was to find good music to practice to, but little by little, I was overtaken by a collector’s interest.
My first exposure to DJing was when I was assisting SalsaChino in their small venues, through 2002 and 2003. At the time, I only had some 20 CDs worth of decent music, and it was played at their salsa parties.
Word of my selection spread, and when Picante opened their Wednesday salsa night at the Grand Stage in 2003, I was invited to assist with DJing.
Through 2004, I occasionally assisted the Regal Salsa Explosion, when one of the regular teachers was absent. I became a regular guest DJ at that venue when I was invited to be a guest teacher in December 2004.
In 2005, I was one of the DJs of the HK Salsa Festival, alongside Henry Knowles, local salsa DJs Joseph and Sam, and guest DJ from Thailand Dr Salsa.
Through 2005, I would regularly play on Saturdays and Tuesdays for the Regal Salsa Explosion and Tuesday Club Salsa parties.
I am a frequent DJ at several salsa nights in Hong Kong, as well as several international events in Asia, in China, Taiwan and Singapore.
